How are we supposed to know the structure of CH3S-? I had no idea how this was supposed to look.. How does the lewis structure show that it has a negative charge?

I think it's supposed to have a +1 charge.  Think of S like O in this case, so it would have the 3 CH3s attached to it and 1 lone pair, giving it a positive formal charge.
